Hypoglycemia can be simply be explained as low blood glucose or low blood sugar level. It occurs when the blood glucose level falls below
the normal range.
Hypoglycemia may happen for several reasons which includes diet, some medications/conditions and exercise.
SYMPTOMS — symptoms of low blood sugar include Confusion, nervousness, antisocial behavior, fears, exhaustion, depression, anxiety, emotional instability, headaches, impatience, inability to cope, craving for sugar, faintness, dizziness.
People turn to consume large quantities of sugars, soft drinks, caffeine and alcohol. All these contain simple sugars and insufficient amounts of complex carbohydrates. To add to this, high stress levels and the two adrenal glands become exhausted.
However, there are several other physical conditions which can weaken the adrenal function and hence bring on hypoglycemia. These may include weaknesses in the thyroid, kidneys, liver, pituitary and pancreas.
Immune deficiency and candidiasis can also cause hypoglycemia. Other causes include smoking and intake of large amounts of caffeine.
Refined starchy foods, sugary foods, and a high-meat diet wear out the adrenals. Taking in too much sugar or sugary food shocks the adrenal cortex, and the resulting physical reaction is to crave still more sugar.
Those suffering from hypoglycemia should stop eating or using meat, nicotine, alcohol, chocolate, soft drinks, black tea, and also sugary and fatty foods. Caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco produce wide swings in blood sugar levels.
Carefully read the labels at the grocery store, and avoid dextrose, fructose, lactose, dextrin, maltose, sucrose, modified food starch, corn syrup, corn sweetener, cornstarch, and other natural sweeteners.
Only use molasses and honey in small amounts. Stay away from sorbitol, mannitol, hexanol, and glycol.
Intake of too much salt also exhausts the adrenals and therefore causes a loss of potassium, leading to lower blood sugar.
Eat natural foods like whole grains, raw and simply cooked vegetables, some fresh fruit.
But eat starchy foods in moderation, such as corn, noodles, pasta, white rice, hominy, and yams.
Eat diets that are high in fiber and vegetables that are raw or steamed. These are good for you: beans, brown rice, lentils, white potatoes, soy products, and fruits.
Useful fruits include apricots, grapefruit, apples, bananas, lemons, cantaloupes, and persimmons.
For example, eat raw apples instead of applesauce or juice, for the apple has more fiber which will aid keep blood sugar stabilized.
Licorice acts like cortin and helps regulate the blood sugar. Bilberry and wild yam also help control insulin levels.
Cedar berries also help the pancreas. Spirulina tablets when taken between meals, help stabilize blood sugar.
During sugar reaction in the body, eat something that has both protein and fiber such as rice or maybe bran crackers with almond butter.
Fiber alone has the ability to reduce or slow down a hypoglycemic reaction.
At 30 minutes before each meal, eat some of this high fiber foods, to stabilize the blood sugar.
Once every month, its recommended to go on vegetable juice fast for a day. Take enemas with added lemon juice at that very time. If you start to experience a reaction, reach for the fiber, protein powder or spirulina.
Also avoid stressful situations. You may be allergic to milk, which is often accompanied with this disease.
